Here are some ways you can prevent damage from the sun.
While you likely want to achieve an otherworldly shade of bronze, this needs to be done with caution. Too much sun at once can lead to a painful sunburn. And too much sun exposure over time can lead to permanent damage to the skin. Balance is key. Spend a short time in the sun without sunblock, and then slather it on generously throughout the day. If you're spending time in the water, reapply every hour or so.
Wear a Hat
Wearing a hat can protect the more delicate skin on your face, which is much thinner and prone to damage than other parts of your body. We carry a line of designer trucker caps in a variety of styles, colors, and prints. The shade from the cap's bill will protect your skin and your eyes (and wearing a set of shades will help, too!).
Bring a T-Shirt
Give yourself extra protection from the sun by wearing a T-shirt or tank with your boardie shorts or sunga. If you're going to spend a lot of time outside for the day, you should back up your sunblock with a shirt to block harmful UV rays. Additionally, a set of breathable pants or longer shorts will help!
Use a Self Tanner
Self-tanning has come a long way since its inception a few decades ago! Many formulas are so natural looking that it would take a sharp eye to know the difference. Instead of taking chances with UV exposure, head to your spray tan booth or buy your own from the drugstore. When you're out in the sun you can apply your sunblock liberally, allowing you to have gorgeous bronze skin while protecting your skin.
See a Dermatologist Regularly
If you do spend a lot of time under the sun, you should schedule a yearly appointment with a dermatologist. He or she can do a full body checkup to look for the early signs of skin cancer, and provide treatments if necessary. And if you do find that you're experiencing skin damage or premature aging, you can discuss treatments to reverse the damage or to prevent further damage. You can also discuss more effective ways to block the rays of the sun based on your health history.
